Communication Online

Communication Online
E-mail:
A man called Ray Tomlinson created online mail. Before he created it you could only leave messages to people using that computer but now you can send emails all over the world to anyone who has an E-mail account. In 2010 the average emails sent every day was 942 billion, that’s 2.8 million sent per second. Around 90 % of these emails are spam or viruses but every day 1.9 billion genuine emails are sent.
Social media / networking:
Social networking has become such a big thing in the past 5 years. Social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter have become everyday activities. People are constantly updating their Facebook status or the profile picture. Facebook has turned into a website that makes it easier for you to talk someone without having to pick up a phone, you can just inbox them a message or if they are online at the same time as you then you can instant message them.
Forums:
Forums are easy and free ways to get answers to problems all you have to do is ask your question and people can respond and give you an answer. This is really helpful if you are having problems with construction because you can ask your question and then someone can tell you what you are doing wrong and how you can fix it.

SMS / smart phones:
Smart phones are increasingly using the internet. From most smart phones you can download music, go on Facebook/ twitter, watch things on YouTube and download apps to entertain you or to give you information. Smart phones are becoming more and more popular and because so many people are using them people have started to use SMS more often.
Blogs:

Blogs can be an effective way to get people to listen to your cause. If you have something that you think is important to say then you can create a blog and post all of your information there. Blogs are very handy because you can follow people’s blogs and get updates on when a new article has been published. If a blog is written well then you can really influence how people feel about a certain subject.

Video conferencing:
Video conferencing is often used when you need to have a meeting with another company but you can’t because they are in different countries. Video conferencing is where you set up cameras and screens to film yourself and you then send that video life to the other company and they to it back and you video appears on their screen and their video appears on you screen I personally think that video is old fashioned and not many people still use it unless they are told to by their company.

News:
News is also using the internet to give people information about what is going on in other parts of the world. This is a quick and efficient way of getting the news and also you don’t have to wait for it to be shown on TV you can simply just log on and find out what’s been happening.

Pod casts:
Podcasts are small downloadable media file which could contain sound and video. They can be used to give information to the public about any subject that the creator chooses or it can be for entertainment purposes i.e. a TV programme.
